SVM Asset Management - Fund of Funds

SVM Balanced Managed Fund is a diversified portfolio of interesting specialist funds designed to provide long-term growth. The Fund holds around 15% fixed interest and cash. The Fund is in the IMA Balanced Managed sector and is invested in areas that do not move in line with the major equity markets. The Fund consists of a highly diversified portfolio of international equity funds including developing markets, that in the managers' views will deliver the best returns over the next 5-10 years. The remainder of the Fund focuses on more defensive asset classes such as fixed interest, property and absolute return vehicles. The Fund is managed by Donald Robertson and Colin McLean who have managed the highly successful SVM Global Fund plc Investment Trust since launch in 1991.

We are pleased to announce increased flexibility on pricing across the entire SVM Retail OEIC Fund range by enhancing initial commission up to 5.25%.

The offer will run from 1st October 2009 until further notice while we await the publication of the Retail Distribution Review. It allows intermediaries to rebate up to 5.25% of their commission to clients, so if an adviser is remunerated on a fee basis they can choose not to take any commission and give their clients access to SVM's funds with no initial charge.

SVM Balanced Managed Fund Managers - Donald Robertson and Colin Mclean

Donald is a qualified accountant with in excess of 20 years' investment and financial experience. Prior to co-founding SVM, he worked at Ivory & Sime, one of the largest independent fund management companies. His fund management responsibilities include investment trusts, derivatives/structured products and speciality finance.

Colin has over 30 years' investment experience and is widely regarded as one of the UK’s top stockpicking analysts, his successful track-record includes 16 years running long/short portfolios. Prior to establishing SVM Asset Management in 1990, he held senior positions with three major financial institutions. He was Head of Investment of two UK life assurers, FS Assurance and Scottish Provident, before being Managing Director of Templeton International’s European operations. His sector responsibilities include UK banks, insurance and mining.

The Fund's aim is to achieve a total return through investing in a highly diversified asset structure where the maximum exposure to equities is limited to 85% of the value of the Fund's portfolio. The Fund invests principally in investment trusts and units in collective investment schemes (which may themselves invest in alternative assets such as private equity, property and hedge funds) and other transferable securities. The remainder of the Fund is invested in bonds, cash, deposits and money market instruments.
